The President Welcomes Relatives of Shot Guard Members to the White House

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Tragic Event

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Response

Attendees gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that educators desired. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to assist people.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event prompted the Trump administration to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of travel documents.

Status of the Airman

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed a news show that she planned to speak to the family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” he told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
