The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a TTRPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.
"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a new way to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.
Launch products are set to feature a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various premium versions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis worsens, civil order breaks down and violent factions emerge, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the players enter the story.
Work on the game has been underway for about several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System
A preview at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, players select a single “result die” from the group.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness
Battles prioritize positioning and situational awareness, mirroring the video games. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic is designed to favor coordination and clever tactics instead of raw numbers.
A Novel Wound System
The way health is managed introduces a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by decreasing the size of their dice pool.
- At critical condition, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
- They can still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
- Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Scenario
A free introductory rulebook will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group lead the hunt for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup are expected to be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
