PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the past 13 years.
