Curtis Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a European match subsequent to voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also noted that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. He feels the outburst were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and securing victories.”
