Manchester United Poised to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL side.
Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the German club’s fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was set to lose one of its leading strikers. According to reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Consistent Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack
The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly reliable with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Carrington
The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when United seem to be building positive momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.
Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”
