Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
