NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text of the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , after last week's discussion regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests was the number of penalties both committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.

But it proved positive to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the victory 21-17.

The Broncos have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that contest.

They had effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending extra defenders but they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program how Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

New TE their tight end has stepped up significantly while new running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates that Denver are a team aiming to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable situations.

This has helped quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He boasts incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

When you consistently rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the area vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

The head coach owns a championship and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps make him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.

They're really good at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win a game.

Since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
