Beloved Performer The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Appearances in Friends and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.
American actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a statement.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- House
Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.
His film credits are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote online.
The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
